The exact moment I realized I was done was when I told him I wanted to go to therapy because of all the issues we were having (and he was antagonistic, attacking, and sabotaging when we went to couples therapy) and he flat out told me I couldn’t go unless he was in the room with me. That’s when I realized the extent of his controlling behavior and that it wasn’t going to get better. When we finally split up and I got away from him for a while I started to realize that so many of the things I’d accepted as okay were definitely not normal or okay.

 I'm sitting there waiting in the back of my truck when one of my friends pull up.
