 I'm sitting there waiting in the back of my truck when one of my friends pull up. I kid you not, I was so happy to have extra time off, I did a stupid little dance in the back of my truck, sort of like a victory dance. God, that stupid dance. Then he opened the door to his car and the inside illuminated. Sitting in the passenger seat was my fiance. She wasn't exactly shamed faced, but more like "crap, this doesn't look good". Then, like in the video games when you figure out the last rune in a puzzle, all of the subtle hints fell into place. All her off-handed comments about him, how cool this or that was. I knew, right then, that while I had toiled away, I had lost her.
