I think the issue with the Batmobile was just that it was overutilized in the story and the Riddler missions. It controlled well and was a ton of fun early on, it just got tedious after the umpteenth tank fight against the same five enemy types. I really enjoyed using it to solve environmental puzzles, like the one where you rappel with the batmobile down the vent shaft or whatever it was. Everyone was clamoring for the Batmobile back in those days, one example where a developer shouldn't listen to fan feedback when it drastically changes the overall feel of your game.

 I'm sitting there waiting in the back of my truck when one of my friends pull up.
